Nurse Practitioners

Our Paramedic Practitioners work closely with our doctors to prioritise patients and make sure they receive the most appropriate treatment in the most time-effective way.

Mr Barney Strange (Paramedic Practitioner) (m)

Barney joined the ambulance service in 2007, graduating as a paramedic in 2010. He completed his honours degree in 2014 and is currently studying an MSc in advanced clinical practice. He has worked in a variety of roles, from a carer to a paramedic manager, but is most interested in clinical practice. He is a member of the college of paramedics with a special interest in remote healthcare. In his spare time he is active and never happier than when exploring the outdoors, preferably via a country pub….

Mrs Judith Duffy (Paramedic Practitioner) (f)

DipHE in Paramedic Science

Judith joined the practice team in September 2016. She runs her own clinics where she supports the GPs in dealing with minor injuries and illnesses and can signpost patients to other services should that be required. Judith began working for NWAS (North West Ambulance Service) back in 2003 and qualified as a paramedic in 2008. She spent a further 7 years with NWAS, before spending a year as a clinical supervisor for the 111 service from 2015.

Nurses

Our highly qualified nurses deal with a range of conditions and health concerns. They are responsible for running specialised clinics for asthma, diabetes, CHD/hypertension, well woman/man, young persons, smoking cessation, family planning, HRT as well as treatment room procedures.
Nurse Debbie Preston (f)

Nurse, Debbie PrestonRGN 1989, Registered midwife 1992-2003, Specialist practitioner degree 2001, Family planning diploma 2004, Diabetes diploma 2006, Insulin initiation course 2009 & X-pert diabetic tutor 2010

Debbie has worked at Adelaide Street practice for over 10 years. She specialises in diabetes and is a tutor on the X-pert diabetic education programme run nationally. She also has a special interest in sexual health and family planning services within primary care.


Nurse Jo Booth (f)

Nurse, Jo BoothMTO (1987), RGN (1993), Asthma Dip (1999), Diabetes Dip (2002), Xpert Diabetes tutor 2005, Intensive Insulin management extended practice 2009, Xpert diabetes insulin tutor 2010.

Jo has worked at both Adelaide Street and Harris Medical centre for almost four years now. Jo runs chronic disease clinics in our practice and specialises in diabetes and respiratory conditions. Since 2006 Jo has tutored on the Xpert structured education program for those patients in Blackpool with diabetes .

 


Nurse Anne Aitken (f)

Nurse, Anne AitkenRGN, RM, Diabetes Dip (2005), Dip Family Planning (2000).

Anne has worked across both practices since 2009 and runs chronic disease clinics as well as most general nursing clinics. She specialises in Family Planning and travel health.

Karen specialises in Diabetes, Asthma & Diabetes.

Healthcare Assistants

Mrs Leigh Parkinson (f)

Leigh gained her Healthcare Assistant (HCA) qualifications in 2015 and is now enjoying her new role as part of our healthcare team. Leigh originally joined the practice as a receptionist, but eventually found her niche in providing direct healthcare to our patients.
