Clinics & Services

Remedies – Sexual Health

Since October 2011, we have been running a sexual health service from the Harris Medical Centre.

The service is called ‘Remedies’ (an anagram of Mereside!) and is available to all Blackpool residents, even those who are not registered with the practice.

The service aims to identify instances of sexually transmitted infections and treat them accordingly.

It is a completely anonymous and confidential service, where patients do not even need to give us their names if they do not wish.

Antenatal Clinic

  • Harris Medical Centre Clinic – Monday 9:00am – 4:00pm

This clinic is run by the midwives. If you become pregnant, you must inform the surgery as a form needs to be completed to refer you to the midwives. At your initial appointment the midwife will ask you a few questions and carry out some general health checks. You will be seen regularly throughout your pregnancy either at the practice, the local hospital, or both.

Chronic Disease Management

Our nurses run clinics on a daily basis to help our patients manage any of the following conditions;

  • Asthma
  • COPD
  • Diabetes
  • Chronic Heart Disease
  • Stroke/TIA
  • Hypertension

From April 2019 all patients will receive an invite for any review they require on their birth month. This has been proven to help people to remember when their next review is due.

Child Health & Immunisation

  • Elizabeth Street Surgery Clinic – Tuesdays 2:00pm – 5:00pm, Thursdays 2:00pm – 5:00pm
  • Harris Medical Centre clinic – Fridays 8:30am – 2:00pm

All new babies are invited for a health check-up from six- eight weeks old. The surgery will generally invite you to attend with your child at the same time as their first immunisation appointment. You will then be invited for any subsequent immunisations once they are due as per the schedule below.
